About Us

University Family Medicine at Pali Momi Medical Center is home to the University of Hawaiʻi Family Medicine Residency Program. The program is academically affiliated with Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group (HPHMG) in partnership with the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). This close relationship allows residents to work with a broad spectrum of faculty, clinicians and researchers while advancing scholarship, medical education and health equity.

University Family Medicine’s team-based approach to health care ensures continuity of care for patients while also allowing residents to practice medicine under the supervision of experienced faculty and acquire the skills needed to become board-certified family medicine doctors.

The Family Medicine Program’s mission is to prepare family medicine physicians for the future of healthcare in Hawaii and the broader Pacific Basin. Since 1996, the program has trained more than 160 residents – 80% of whom remain in Hawaiʻi caring for patients in the local community.

A Team-Based Approach to Care

At University Family Medicine, our family medicine physicians use their unique training and knowledge to understand and address all aspects of a patient’s medical, social and emotional needs. Our team-based approach is designed to deliver the right care by the right expert at the right time – giving you the personalized care you need by a team dedicated to your health.

Working Together For a Healthier You

Our family medicine physicians diagnose and treat medical illnesses, provide preventive care such as annual checkups and health risk assessments, and provide guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In addition, they manage chronic conditions and can refer to specialists or coordinate hospital care as needed.

For nearly three decades, University Family Medicine has been guiding patients through complex health challenges – not just for themselves but for their entire family. We look at all of the factors that affect well-being and provide care across a person’s life span, including the following:

  • Care of young children
  • Immunizations
  • Care of adolescents
  • Sports Injuries
  • Family planning
  • Pregnancy Care
  • Minor procedures
  • Healthy aging
